Scholastic is launching two institutional e-book services that provide access to a database of fiction and nonfiction e-books designed for pre-K through grade six. Storia School Edition is a subscription e-book service offering access to a curated list of 2,000 fiction and nonfiction titles, and Core Clicks features short, informational digital texts on science and social studies.

Both subscription services offer e-books targeting a variety of reading levels as well as offering a variety of interactive vocabulary and skill building exercises, quizzes and multimedia content designed to strengthen learning skills. In addition, both services can be accessed from a variety of desktop and tablet devices and additional online support is available to teachers.

Scholastic launched the original Storia in March 2012 and chief academic officer Francie Alexander said Scholastic reconfigured the original product for for Storia School Edition “with a concurrent use feature so groups of children can read the same title at the same time.” The new edition also has features that help support classroom reading. Core Clicks, she said, is “created by expert editors who develop high-interest nonfiction content in our award-winning classroom magazines.”

The two programs, she said, were created “with teachers in mind. Both are easy to implement and fit right into a school's existing reading curriculum to help students meet the requirements of the Common Core.”
