Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit that produces Sesame Street, and e-content delivery provider Impelsys have launched a new online Sesame Street eBookstore. Readers can subscribe with Impelsys to get unlimited access to a library of more than 100 Sesame Street eBooks for an annual fee of $39.99, although the company is offering an introductory price of $24.99 through July 4.
The store, at
www.ebooks.sesamestreet.org, is managed by Impelsys and features such titles as
Elmo’s ABC Book,
Abby in Wonderland, and
Grover’s Guide to Good Eating. Books are available as e-books that children can read at their own pace; audio e-books with narration, sound effects, and music; animated e-books with full-color animation; and interactive e-books with which children can “play along.”
Last December, Sesame
launched its first e-book collection for young readers. Impelsys CEO Sameer Shariff said the company has been “very pleased with the enthusiastic response we received in our successful pre-launch.... Our goal is to showcase the powerful Sesame Street brand with an ambitious digital publishing initiative that will establish a new standard in online libraries for children’s e-books.”
There are currently e-book available in 19 subject areas, and more will be added. A rotating selection of five e-books will continue to be available free at
ebooks.sesamestreet.org/free.
