Lerner Digital, Lerner Publishing Group’s two-year-old digital publishing division, has launched the Kar-Ben eBookstore, which is selling e-books for children with Jewish themes. The e-bookstore launched with 170 fiction and nonfiction titles in its inventory that have been published in digital formats under Lerner’s Kar-Ben imprint. There are a total of 300 Jewish-interest titles in print under the Kar-Ben imprint. The e-bookstore will also carry children’s e-books with Jewish themes that have been published by other companies.

The Kar-Ben eBookstore’s inventory is available for browsing, purchase, and reading via any Web browser, and can be searched by category, age and other filters. Titles available in the e-bookstore will emphasize Jewish holidays, Bible tales, folk-tales, and life-cycle stories.

Lerner Digital is also launching a Kar-Ben e-reader app – a dedicated e-reader for the iPad. The free app is available at the Apple App Store.

“For the first time Jewish parents and their children have direct access to Kar-Ben’s extensive e-book library,” Terri Soutor, Lerner Publishing Group v-p of marketing and digital products, said in a statement. “The Kar-Ben eBookstore makes it possible to access Jewish-interest e-books anywhere, any time and makes our books more mobile and accessible than ever before.”
