Barbara Marcus, president and publisher of Random House Children’s Books, has announced new responsibilities for two senior executives. Longtime staffer Judith Haut has been appointed to the newly created position of senior v-p, associate publisher, effective immediately. As associate publisher, Haut will work with Marcus, the publishers and editorial directors, and the marketing, sales, and art departments to set the longterm publishing strategy and processes for the division. Haut will also be in charge of the division’s paperback program, and will continue to oversee digital publishing and communications strategy.

Most recently, Haut had been senior v-p, communications and marketing, and director, digital publishing for the division. Prior to that, she held the position of v-p of communications, after serving as v-p and executive director of publicity.

In a related announcement, John Adamo, senior v-p, marketing, will now oversee all marketing activities. He has spent his entire career under the Bertelsmann umbrella, having joined Bantam Doubleday Dell as a marketing assistant in 1994, and except for a short stint in the sales department, he has spent his career working in the children’s marketing department. Haut and Adamo will continue to report to Marcus.

“Both Judith and John have been vital and longstanding contributors to the success of Random House Children’s Books,” Marcus said in a statement. “These expanded roles will allow them to continue to strengthen and innovate within the division and position RHCB well for continued growth.”
