This week, singer Kenny Loggins takes his picture book on the road; Rachel Renée Russell goes back to school; and Latino publishing professionals celebrate.

And... We’re Live!

Promoting his first picture book, Footloose, singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on October 18. During the segment, Loggins talked to Kimmel about the book and also sat in with the band. Tom Cruise was also a guest on the show that evening.

Giving Back

Rachel Renée Russell, author of the Dork Diaries series, appeared at Crestwood Elementary School in Fairfax County, Va., on October 25, for an event to promote reading. She appeared in conjunction with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, First Lady of Virginia Dorothy McAuliffe, and Redskins president Bruce Allen. Russell visited classes at the school and, seen here, delivered remarks to the student body.

Stepping Out!

Members of Latinx in Publishing, a network of book professionals devoted to promoting Latinos in the publishing industry, met to celebrate the launch of Latinx’s web site on October 13. The event, which was at SOLAS, a bar in Manhattan’s East Village, was held as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, which ends on October 31.
