Among has launched its third overseas Kindle store, opening Amazon.fr in France as well has making available its first French-language Kindle that it will sell for 99 euros.

The new store will have over 35,000 French-language e-books as well as 4,000 free classics in French plus an assortment of newspapers and magazines. The store will also sell over 825,000 English-language e-books. The French Kindle will begin shipping October 14.

“We are excited to bring our first French-language Kindle and our new Kindle store to millions of Amazon.fr customers,” said Greg Greeley, vice president, Amazon European Retail. Amazon’s other overseas Kindle stores are in the U.K. and Germany.

With the launch of the store and Kindle in France, Amazon is also making available its Kindle Direct Publishing option in the country enable authors and indie presses to publish titles directly to the Kindle store.
