IDW Publishing is expanding its relationship with digital vendor Comixology, and the digital comics distributor and developer will now power the IDW comics app, IDW specialty series and a newly launched web digital comics store. IDW is also initiating same-day release of print and digital editions for all its titles with digital formats offered at full print cover price.

IDW previously split its digital delivery between iVerse and Comixology, but now will use Comixology to delivery its entire comics catalog to its digital storefronts. Comixology will now support the IDW comics app as well as deliver the content for specialty app series such as G.I. Joe, 30 Days of Night, Transformers, Ben Templesmith, True Blood Comics, Dr. Who and other IDW series. IDW is also teaming with Comixology to launch Read.IDWPublishing.com, a new online store for digital editions of the IDW comics line.

Comixology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger said, “the diversity of IDW’s line offers something for everyone, whether you’re a comic fan or not. And with the recent addition of Comics by Comixology pre-loaded on the Kindle Fire to our platform, IDW now has a fully cross-platform solution that can reach new fans.”

All IDW branded digital comics apps are now live via Comixology and consumers who purchased their comics through iVerse can redownload and resynch old purchases through the Comixology platform. Comixology-powered IDW branded apps are available for all Apple devices (iPod, iPhone and iPad) as well as on Android and the newly released Kindle Fire.

IDW president Ted Adams said the expanded agreement with Comixology is the latest digital move by IDW, which has always been aggressive about digital delivery. “IDW has always been dedicated to making our comics and graphic novels as accessible as possible on as many platforms as possible,” Adams said. “This deeper IDW-Comixology relationship continues that commitment. We are strong believers that digital comics expand the reach of these books and consistently bring new readers into the industry.”
