Danielle Cumbo, whose experience in international sales and book publishing included roles at Sterling, Chronicle Books, HarperCollins, and most recently Simon & Schuster, passed away on April 16 after a long illness.

Cumbo joined S&S in 2012 where served as director, international sales. In a memo to the company, v-p executive director global digital and international sales Colin Shields reflected on Cumbo’s “truly remarkable” command of international sales and book publishing, as well as the passion and drive for her work that brought inspiration to those around her. “We will also remember Danielle for her wry sense of humor, her boisterous laugh, and as a good friend who will be greatly missed,” Shields wrote.

A service for Cumbo will take place in Brooklyn, N. Y. April 27, and in lieu of flowers, Cumbo asked that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
