Blanche Cirker, co-founder of Dover Publications, died last week at the age of 104.

Cirker and her husband, Hayward, who died in March 2000, founded Dover in 1941. They named the company after their apartment building in Forest Hills, Queens. Originally started to publish inexpensive titles in the public domain, Dover expanded its list in more recent years to include original works. In the more than 80 years since its founding, Dover has gone on to publish more than 10,000 titles.

Dover was acquired by the printer Courier Corp. in 2000 and is now part of the book manufacturer Lakeside Book Company
