Barnes & Noble, which has been revamping its digital audiobook offerings, has announced the launch of B&N Audiobooks, with the tagline “audiobooks for book people, from book people.” The new audiobooks service is available online at bn.com/audiobooks.

With the launch, B&N is offering a free 30-day subscription trial, which includes one free audiobook. The new service has a catalog of more than 300,000 titles, and has two buying options. Customers can buy audiobooks individually or enroll in a new subscription service for $14.99 per month, in which customers will receive one audiobook credit per month. Users will also have the ability to pre-order audiobooks.

Audiobooks can be listened to on the Barnes & Noble NOOK app for Android and iOS or the web player. B&N said that “as B&N Audiobook listening progress, bookmarks, and notes automatically sync across all platforms and devices that are signed in to the same BN.com account and connected to the Internet."

Jennifer A. Perry, director of audiobooks for B&N, said in a statement that the company is “delighted that the B&N Nook App will be the new home for all our digital offerings as we combine audiobooks and e-books into one app for a seamless customer experience.”

CEO James Daunt noted that B&N Audiobooks reflects the B&N’s continued investment in the business. “The new audiobooks service rounds out the complete offer to readers from Barnes & Noble,” Daunt said. “It follows the successful launch of our NOOK GlowLight 4 last holiday as the company invests in its digital platforms.”
