Nancy Landon, owner of the Brewster Bookstore in Brewster, Mass., and children’s book buyer for Toy castle in Potomac, Md., and Toy Kingdom in Rockville, died on Wednesday March 9. She was 74. In the days leading up to her death from ovarian cancer, she was still reviewing and ordering books for all three stores. Landon is survived by her husband, John Landon, with whom she opened Brewster Bookstore during a blizzard in spring 1982; by three children; her mother; and six grandchildren. “There are many of us who will really miss her,” says sales representative Michael Watson of Watson & Woodward. “New England has lost an extraordinary person.”

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 10701 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, Md., on Wednesday, March 16 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Brewster Ladies Library, 1822 Main Street, Brewster, Mass. 02621 or to the Animal Rescue League of Boston-Brewster Shelter, 3981 Route 6 A, East Brewster, MA 02631.
