Books-A-Million is not only taking over the leases of a number of Borders locations, but it is also closing some stores. According to reports in two local publications, BAM will close outlets in Florence, S.C. and Asheville, N.C. by September 17. Both stores have started going-out-of business sales. According to the Florence Morning News, 20 jobs will be lost, and the paper noted the closest BAM is now in Sumpter, one of the locations where BAM took over a Borders outlet. BAM's new store in a former Borders outlet in Concord, N.C. is 148 miles from Asheville.
