7/3 Authors Discuss Walt Kelly: The Life and Art of the Creator of Pogo in San Francisco

The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco will be holding a special panel discussion about the evolving career of the classic comic creator Walt Kelly, from his time at Disney to his famous comic Pogo on Tuesday, July 3. The panel will feature guests Thomas Andrae, Carsten Laqua, Mark Burstein, and Scott Daley, the four authors of the new artistic biography Walt Kelly: The Life and Art of the Creator of Pogo, and will be followed by a book signing. The event will take place at the museum from 7 – 9 p.m., and admission will be free to the general public. The Cartoon Art Museum, located at 655 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA.

7/5 Our Valued Customers Signing with "Mr Tim" in New York

Up and coming webcomic creator Tim Chamberlin aka "Mr Tim" of Our Valued Customers will appear in New York City to sign the new softcover collection of his comic. Our Valued Customers captures the ridiculous and occasionally true things Chamberlin overhears at work at his local comic shop. The event takes place on Thursday, July 5, at at the downtown location of Midtown Comics from 6-7 p.m. The event is free to the public. The downtown Midtown Comics is located at 64 Fulton Street, New York, NY.

7/7 Kids Read Comics in Ann Arbor, MI

On July 7, the 2012 Kids Read Comics event will take place in Ann Arbor, Michigan and feature such comic creator guests as Raina Telgenmeier, J. Torres and Jim Ottaviani among many others as well as literary guests such as Brandon Sanderson and Patricia Brigss. The 2011 New York Comic Con will be held at the Ann Arbor Public Library main branch. Hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday. Entrance is free to the general public.
