7/31: Collider Release Party in Portland, OR

Celebrate the release of the debut issue of the new Vertigo series Collider with series artist Robbi Rodriguez (Uncanny X-Force) from 5-7 p.m. at Floating World Comics in downtown Portland. Collider, written by Simon Oliver (The Exterminators), is set in a world where anomalies like wormholes are an everyday occurrence and follows Adam Hardy, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Physics, who investigates an alternative dimension known as the “Bubbleverse” which could have grave consequences on humanity’s adapted way of life. 8/1: Optic Nerve #13 Release Party with Adrian Tomine in Brooklyn, NY

Join cartoonist and illustrator Adrian Tomine (New York Drawings, Scenes from an Impending Marriage) for the release of Optic Nerve #13, the latest installment in his long running series of collected eclectic shorts published by Drawn and Quarterly at 7 p.m. at Bergen Street Comics in Brooklyn, NY. Optic Nerve #13 contains three separate stories: a dark comedy about rehab programs, a look at the daily life of a Japanese woman dealing with divorce and an autobiographical story about the author’s adjustment to family life. 8/3-8/4: Boston Comic Con in Boston, MA

After being canceled earlier in this year, Boston Comic Con is back with a weekend full of comics-related guests and programming at the Seaport World Trade Center. Schedule includes artist panels and workshops, a cosplay contest, artist alley, gaming tournaments, portfolio reviews and more. Comics guests include Mike Mignola (Hellboy), James O’Barr (The Crow), David Petersen (Mouse Guard), Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets, Wonder Woman), Howard Chaykin (Satellite Sam, Black Kiss), Colleen Doran (A Distant Soil), Scott Snyder (Batman), Bill Willingham (Fables), Ed McGuinness (Nova) and many more.
