The inclusion of Thomas Nelson in HarperCollins’s second quarter ended December 31 helped improve earnings in parent company News Corp.’s publishing segment, the conglomerate reported Wednesday. In addition to contributions from Nelson, HC said that the company benefitted from the continued growth of e-book sales. Worldwide e-book sales for the second quarter represented 14% of HC’s total sales.

Until News Corp. completes the separation of its publishing businesses from its entertainment operations later this year, the company will continue to lump HC results into the publishing unit which is dominated by newspaper results.
