Baker & Taylor has acquired Bridgeall Libraries, a Glasgow, Scotland based technology developer specializing in software that helps libraries manage their collections more efficiently. Known as Smartsm in the U.K. and CollectionHQ in the U.S., Bridgeall Libraries’s software product helps libraries select, acquire and manage print and digital content.

Stephen Beer, managing director of Bridgeall Libraries, said "as evidenced by the rapid growth of Smartsm over the past four years, we are very proud to have delivered a tool that is hugely popular to libraries. Baker & Taylor has the global reach, vision and expertise to deliver smartsm –as well as new developments – to further benefit of libraries worldwide.”

B&T will work to introduce CollectionHQ/Smartsm to libraries in North America and internationally. Software development, customer support and sales will remain based in Glasgow.

Baker & Taylor education and library division president George Coe said CollectionHQ will give libraries, “the information and analytical tools they need to put the most relevant content in the hands of their patrons.”
