Gillian Blake has been named editor-in-chief at Henry Holt. Blake, who will be starting on September 1, has been at Holt since 2009 and has worked with, among others, authors like Rob Lowe (editing his recent bestseller for the division), Douglas Coupland and William Boyd. Blake has, over the years, worked for Scribner, Bloomsbury and HarperCollins.

Blake is replacing Jill Lamar, who stepped into the editor-in-chief job in February, replacing Marjorie Braman. Lamar, before being tapped for the Holt job, had been at B&N, where she launched the retailer's B&N Recommends program.
