Sarah McGrath, currently executive editor at Riverhead, has been promoted to editor-in-chief of the Penguin imprint.

McGrath, who was recently profiled in PW, was called by Penguin, in its announcement of the promotion, "one of the most highly regarded and sought-after editors in our industry."

She joined Riverhead in 2006 and has acquired or edited books by, among others, Meg Wolitzer, Khaled Hosseini, Chang-rae Lee and Anton DiSclafani, Margaret Talbot and Dana Goodyear.

Before joining Riverhead, McGrath worked at both Scribner and Knopf.
