Baker & Taylor’s long-time head of international retail operations, John Bacon, will retire at the end of the year. Following his retirement, Chitra Bopardikar, v-p and general manager of B&T’s global publishers services, will take over responsibility for B&T’s international retail business.

Bacon began his career 38 years ago with Feffer & Simons, representing publishers for export. He moved to B&T when it acquired Feffer & Simons in 1986. “John presided over an impressive global growth trajectory, leaving us with an international retail business with a strong foundation and great growth potential," said David Cully, executive v-p and president retail markets.

Bopardikar joined B&T earlier this year to lead the new global publishers services division, which signed its first four publisher clients this fall.

“I am excited to help guide the future of our international business, both on the publisher and retail side of the supply chain,” Bopardikar said. “Going forward, we will seek to integrate, to the extent possible, our team’s approach to serving global markets.”
