While some people are planning their summer vacations, for those of us in the book business time off will have to wait. In addition to BookExpo in New York in a couple of weeks, toilers in the vineyards of religion/spirituality publishing have the Religious Booksellers Trade exhibit the week before BEA and the International Christian Retail Show in mid-July. In between, many also will add the American Library Association conference to their travel schedules. I always look forward to the opportunity to meet with industry colleagues and friends, not only to find out what’s new in books, but also in the businesses of making them and selling them. These are times both confusing, as old ways no longer work, and heady, as new ideas and methods seem to surface daily. Look for our reports and analysis from the shows and conferences in upcoming issues of Religion BookLine, PW Daily, and Publishers Weekly.
