The London Book Fair and Screen Week have announced the shortlisted audiobooks for the Creativity Across Media: Entertainment and Originality Awards (CAMEOs). The U.S. award, which will be presented at BookExpo on May 30, will focus exclusively on audiobooks in its inaugural year, but will honor other book IPs including films, TV programs, and games in future years.

While the CAMEOs are new to the U.S., the awards have been running in the U.K. for four years as part of the London Book Fair's public programming. Actor Jim Dale, one of the world's leading audiobook narrators, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

The three audiobooks shortlisted for this year's prize are:

  • The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman, narrated by Martin Sheen (Penguin Random House)
  • The Other Woman by Sandie Jones, narrated by Clare Corbett (Macmillan Audio)
  • Milkman by Anna Burns, narrated by Bríd Brennan (Faber & Faber)

"We are delighted to recognise the best audiobooks adapted from U.K. books published in 2018," Jacks Thomas, director of the London Book Fair and London Book and Screen Week, said in a statement. "The book has shown its continuing power in so many formats, from games to TV, film to audiobooks. At LBF this year, we recognised the unstoppable rise of audio content, and this important award is clear recognition of book consumers’ appetite for this increasingly popular format."
