American publishing’s testing of the Middle East book market via book fairs will continue in 2010 at the Riyadh International Book Fair set for March 2-12. The Combined Book Exhibit, in conjunction with the Association of American Publishers, the Publishers Association and working with the Saudi-based Al-Rushd Group, is mounting an exhibit of English-language academic and STM titles which will be displayed during the show. Titles released since 2008 are eligible for display and there is no cost to U.S. publishers. The package being assembled by CBE will include information about each publisher represented, descriptions of the titles and how they can be ordered. CBE is also creating a searchable database of all titles.

To participate, publishers must supply CBE with two copies of each book and fill out the attached template. More information on the fair can be found here or by contacting CBE president Jon Malinowski at jon@combinedbook.com. To date, McGraw-Hill, John Wiley and MIT Press are among the publishers showing interest in participating.
