Eisner Awards Submissions
Submissions for the 2008 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are now being accepted. Details of the submission requirements can be found at the San Diego Comic-Con International website. The deadline for submissions is March 14, 2008. The nominees will be announced in April, and in May the ballots will be sent to comics professionals. The Eisner Award winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony at the San Diego Comic-Con International on July 25, 2008.

Graphix’s David Saylor Promoted
David Saylor is promoted to v-p, associate publisher and creative director of hardcover books. Saylor previously worked as the editorial director of Graphix, Scholastic’s graphic novel imprint, which published the color editions of Jeff Smith's Bone Series. In his new position, Saylor will be responsible for the publishing and art direction of Scholastic's hardcover imprints.

IDW, Gold Eagle Ink Pact
IDW Publishing and Gold Eagle Books have formed a partnership to publish two comic books: Rogue Angel: Teller of Tall Tales and Don Pendleton's The Executioner: The Devil's Tools.Rogue Angel will feature Annja Creed, the archeologist heroine from Gold Eagle's prose books; the comic will be written by Barbara Randall Kesel and the art will be by Renae De Liz, with inks and colors by Ray Dillon. Rogue Angel will be a five issue mini-series; the first issue will be available in February. The Executioner, featuring the hero Mark Bolan, will be written by Douglas Wojtowicz, with art by SL Gallant, and colors by Luis Antonio Delgado. The Executioner will also be a five issue mini-series; it will be available in stores in April. More information can be found at IDW's website.

Time’s Top Graphic Novels of 2007
Chris Onstad’s webcomic Achewood tops the list of Time.com’s best comics of 2007, followed at #2 by Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Black Dossier. Time.com has posted the complete list of the 10 best comics/graphic novels of 2007 on the Time.com website.

CCS Debuts Satchel Paige Site
The Center for Cartoon Studies has launched a new website for the graphic novel Satchel Paige: Striking Out Jim Crow, by James Strum and Rick Tommaso. The web page features a preview of the book; an interview with the author, James Strum; a teacher's guide for the book; and a preview of early rough drafts of the book.

Papercutz on Cell Phones
Papercutz and uclick, a digital entertainment company, are teaming up to release Papercutz's Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys comics via uclick's "Gocomics" mobile phone comic book reader. The series' will be released starting in the winter of 2007; a new chapter will be released weekly. Comics which are already available through the GoComics mobile phone reader include Jeff Smith's Bone series, Godland, Elephantmen, and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Charles Burns Signs in NYC
Charles Burns will be signing copies of Black Hole on January 11th at 7PM at the Barnes and Noble in Tribeca; the store is located at 270 Greenwich Street. Black Hole is now available in paperback. More information about the event can be found at the B&N website.

Eyeshield 21 Goes Broadband
The animated series Eyeshield 21will be released on the web-streaming site, Toonami Jetstream; Toonami Jetstream was jointly developed by Viz Media and Cartoon Network. Eyeshield 21, the animated series, is based on the manga of the same title, written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Yasuke Murata; the story revolves around a teenager who is forced to play on his high school football team. The first episode will be available on Toonami Jetstream on December 17th.

Fresh Ink on G4TV
G4TV’s comics maven Blair Butler offers a fresh batch of comics reviews on Fresh Ink, the technology and pop culture network’s online video comics review segment on the G4TV website. Butler takes a look at Wonder Woman #15, Wolverine #60, The Abyss #2, and Green Lantern #25. She also discusses two comics written by Garth Ennis: The Boys and Wormwood.
