Bluewater Signs with WME
Bluewater Productions
, known for such titles as Vincent Price Presents and the Female Force series of biographical comics, has inked a deal with the William Morris Endeavor Entertainment to represent their comic book and graphic novel properties. Bluewater titles The Legend of Isis and Lost Raven are under development by Golden House Entertainment for the feature film and television markets. Bluewater’s 10th Muse is also under development, with Castle Bright Productions at Universal Pictures. William Morris Endeavor Entertainment is one of the largest literary and talent agencies in the world.

America’s Army Now U.S. Sponsored GN
America’s Army
, the popular free video game sponsored by the U.S. Army, has now been adapted into an online graphic novel. Written by M. Zachary Sherman (Shrapnel, Seal Team Seven) with art by J. Brown (Thunderbolts), Michael Penick (The Corps), the comic has been rigorously checked for accuracy of in details of gear, weaponry and military culture by a group of expert Army consultants. Following a U.S. Army Long Range Surveillance Unit in the midst of a war between the fictional countries of Czervania and the Republic of the Ostrogals, the story is a full length graphic novel presented in an online format. America’s Army 3, the next installment in the video game series, will become available this summer.

Archie Goes Digital and Free
Archie Comics is, for the first time, making comics available in a downloadable digital format. Archie Freshman Year, the popular storyline chronicling the adventures of iconic Archie characters earlier in their high school career, is the first title Archie Comics is offering from the iTunes app store. Freshman Year #1 is available free of charge and issue #2 is also on offer, for $0.99. The series is illustrated by Bill Galvan and written by Batton Lash.

Peter Jackson at Comic-Con
Academy Award-winning fan favorite Peter Jackson, director of Lord of the Rings and King Kong, will make his first San Diego Comic Con appearance in order to promote District 9, the upcoming science fiction police drama which he has produced. District 9 is directed by Neil Blomkamp and will arrive in theaters this August. Jackson, Blomkamp, and the movie’s star, Sharlto Copely will share a panel about the movie at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con International.

Kids Comic Con at Miami BFI

, a child-themed comic book convention held annually in the New York City area, will also appear as a part of this November’s Miami Book Fair International as the Kids Comic Con Road Show. The Miami Book Fair International will be held in Miami from November 8-15 and the Kids Comic Con Road Show will be appearing there from November 13-15.

Carol Tyler in Cincinnati
Long time comic creator C. Tyler will sign her new Fantagraphics graphic novel You'll Never Know Book One: A Good and Decent Man from 5-7 p.m. on June 13. You'll Never Know is Tyler's autobiographical comic about her relationship with her World War II veteran father Chuck Tayler, and his experiences during the war. Now 90 years old, he will be joining her for the signing, making the event a truly unique opportunity. Shake It Records is located at 4156 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jason at Fanta Bookstore
Noted Norwegian comic creator Jason will sign his new graphic novel Low Moon from 6-9 on June 13 at the Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery in Seattle, Washington. Low Moon was originally published in the New York Times Sunday edition. Admission is free and there will be a live D.J. providing musical accompaniment to the eventing. The Fantagraohics Bookstore and Gallery is located at 1201 South Vale Street, Seattle, Washington.
