The international children’s publishing community is gathering in New York City on December 7 for the second annual Global Kids Connect—a single-day conference produced by Publishers Weekly in association with the Bologna Book Fair.

Billed as “a world of information in a day,” GKC features international industry leaders discussing what goes into creating global successes, showcases innovative approaches that drive new revenue streams, and offers real intelligence on emerging markets.

Renee (Xiaoyan) Huang, founder and publisher of Everafter Books, Trustbridge Publishing, who led the 2015 Publishers Weekly China: Deep Dive, makes a return appearance at Global Kids Connect with fresh data and insights into the editorial needs and market opportunities in China today.

The industry insiders sharing their expertise in Translating Books to Screens include Tara Sorensen (head of kids programming, Amazon Studios), Lisa Fragner (head of East Coast Feature Development, 20th Century Fox Animation), Eddie Gamarra (literary manager/producer, The Gotham Group) and author/illustrator/producer Dan Yaccarino.

Sara Sargent, senior editor at HarperCollins Children’s Books, is the “conversation catalyst” for a dialogue with Goodreads, Wattpad and Alloy Entertainment that will delve into community, connection, and opportunity in the YA marketplace.

Closing out the day is a GKC exclusive: a powerhouse trio of industry leaders—Barbara Marcus, president and publisher of Random House Children’s Books, Amy Berkower, chairman of Writers House, and Suzanne Murphy, president and publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books—will be Answering the Hard Hitting Questions posed by Julia Eccleshare, children’s books editor at the Guardian.

“Global Kids Connect is the only U.S. conference looking at the children’s publishing ecosystem through an international lens,” says GKC executive producer Charlie Schroder. “Our goal is to provide attendees with practical, provocative, and actionable insights they can utilize in their daily business practices.”

Global Kids Connect culminates with the Publishers Weekly Children’s Starred Reviews Celebration, a “starry” soiree for the publishing community to raise a toast to the authors and illustrators who received a PW star in 2016. The Children’s Starred Reviews Celebration is included with Global Kids Connect registration. Tickets to the cocktail party can also be purchased separately.

Hope to see you there!
