Description
Amazon Publishing is looking for an energetic, analytical, experienced leader to manage acquisitions for AmazonEncore. The Acquisitions Manager will lead a small team, working closely with marketing and production teams to identify, acquire, and publish previously overlooked books and emerging authors and provide strategic guidance on the development of the business. This is a multi-faceted job in a start-up environment, requiring flexibility, a strong work ethic, and a good sense of humor.

Core Job Responsibilities

-Drive business strategy for growth and development of the program
-Develop and refine processes around analyzing sales data, industry trends, and customer feedback to identify high potential works for publication
-Negotiate publishing contracts with authors, agents and publishers
-Represent the author’s best interests at every step in the publishing process

Basic Qualifications:

-BA/BS Degree required
-7 or more years of experience in a top-tier publishing organization
-5 or more years experience managing an editorial team of direct reports
-High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
-Demonstrated success using data to make decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

-MBA/MS/MA preferred
-Passion for books and a great appetite for reading
