Description
Skyhorse Publishing, Inc., a fast-growing, forward-looking book publisher based in New York, is looking for a creative and energetic Publicist to develop and manage publicity campaigns across all imprints (fiction, non-fiction, trade, children’s).

We are looking for someone familiar with the traditional building blocks of publicity, who also understands the importance of unorthodox book marketing in the rapidly changing media landscape. We value unique promotional ideas as much as strong organization and attention to detail.

The right candidate will join the tightly-knit and busy publicity department, reporting to and closely working with the Director of Publicity.

This is a full-time position.

Duties:
• Plan and execute publicity campaigns for a variety of titles across all imprints
• Create press materials, review mailings, and e-blasts
• Secure reviews and author appearances for all media channels: print, TV, radio, online
• Arrange author events with bookstore and non-bookstore venues
• Work with authors on online marketing and social media efforts
• Maintain relationships with front and backlist authors
• Maintain and contribute to media-list databases
• Build strong relationships with the media and bookselling community
• Work closely with editorial and sales departments to support books and authors

Required Skills:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work independently
• Must be able to come up with non-standard promotional ideas tailored to each campaign
• Must understand online and social media
• Meeting deadlines and being detail-oriented is crucial
• Proficiency in the Cision media database is strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Word and Excel is expected

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a relevant subject area
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of publicity experience
• Strong contacts and familiarity with various media channels
• Track record of working on successful and high-profile publicity campaigns is a plus
• Prior experience in book publishing is preferred
