Becca Stevens, the author of 2014's Snake Oil: The Art of Healing and Truth-Telling (Jericho Books), is among CNN's top 10 Heroes for 2016. The Episcopal priest is also the founder of the not-for-profit Thistle Farms in Nashville, Tenn.—a collection of five residential communities that help women escape prostitution, addiction, and trafficking.

Stevens is joined by nine other 2016 CNN Heroes whose lives are dedicated to changing the world. Each "hero" will receive a $10,000 cash prize, and one of the 10 will be named "CNN Hero of the Year," receiving an additional $100,000 for his or her cause. The winner will be selected through a voting process via email, Facebook Messenger, and Twitter. The winner will be announced during a global broadcast event on CNN Sunday, Dec. 11.
