A little more than one year after joining Scholastic as executive v-p of educational publishing, Julie McGee has moved to the McGraw-Hill Cos., where she has been appointed president of the newly formed Basal and Test Publishing group. McGee, who started at MHC November 29, reports to Buzz Ellis, president of the School Education group.

In her new position, McGee will oversee MHC's elementary and secondary school publishing units—Macmillan/McGraw-Hill and Glencoe/McGraw-Hill—as well as the assessment unit, CTB/McGraw-Hill. The presidents of those units, Roger Rogalin, Steven McClung and David Taggart, will report to McGee; they had reported to Ellis. Robert Evanson, president of McGraw-Hill Education, said McGee's mandate is to leverage the different assets in the group. "In an educational environment increasingly driven by assessments, opportunities exist to strengthen and create innovative instructional materials that improve student performance," Evanson said.

McGee had been recruited by Scholastic to restructure its educational publishing activities. No one had been named to replace her at press time.
