The flagship FAO Schwarz store in New York City has unveiled its Valentine's Day windows, and they are literally covered with Ian Falconer's Olivia. The store has also installed an Olivia boutique, complete with a sculpture of the pig and a number of Olivia Valentine's Day gift items.
On February 10 from 2—4 p.m., FAO will host public Olivia parties at its stores in New York, Boston and San Francisco, where there will be readings of the two Olivia picture books (Olivia and Olivia Saves the Circus, both published by Atheneum/Anne Schwartz Books), and cookie decorating and Olivia Valentine cards for children to decorate. The cards will be donated to local children's charities.
FAO Schwarz is the exclusive toy retailer for the Olivia franchise and currently stocks a plush doll and a doll with clothing trunk, and there are plans to expand the offerings to include more dolls, plush toys and Olivia candy confections.
