The 1993 Marine raid in Mogadishu, Somalia, that inspired the hit book and movie Black Hawk Down continues to generate book deals for its participants. The mission's pilot sold his story to Putnam a couple of weeks ago, and now Ranger Sgt. Matt Eversmann is putting together an anthology of first-person pieces by the team involved in that desperate African firefight—to which he will also contribute—and it has been bought by Chris Evans at Ballantine for the house's Presidio Press imprint. Black Hawk Down author Mark Bowden will contribute a foreword, and the house plans to publish in fall of 2003, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the battle.
