Out of a pool of 10,000 entries, five finalists, one in each of five fiction categories, have been selected for the seventh annual Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Each of the five, which were chosen by a panel of judges, will be awarded an Amazon Publishing contract.
The grand prize winner will get a $50,000 contract; the other four runners up will each receive a $15,000 advance. Customers can cast their vote for the prize-winner on the Amazon website www.amazon.com/abna from now through July 18, 2014.
The 2014 ABNA finalists are:
General Fiction: A Pledge of Silence by Flora Solomon (Southport, N.C.)
Mystery/Thriller: The Dead Key by D.M. Pulley (Shaker Heights, Ohio)
Romance: The Bluestocking and the Rake by Norma Darcy (Canterbury, Kent G.B.)
Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror: The Mengele Effect by Chuck Grossart (Bellevue, Nebr.)
Young Adult Fiction: Seashell, Stork and Apple Tree by Carrie Anne Noble (Montoursville, Pa.)
