Skyhorse Publishing has acquired bestselling author Terry Goodkind’s forthcoming thriller NEST. Skyhorse will publish the novel November 15. According to the house's executives, Goodkind turned down larger advance offers from bigger publishers in order to release the novel with Skyhorse, which promised to get the book out before the holidays.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be with Skyhorse,” Goodkind said in a statement. “They are bold and innovative. I think they are the perfect publisher to bring NEST to the marketplace.”

Skyhorse said NEST “reinvents the paranormal thriller,” and called it “an explosive mix of action and suspense that takes readers on a dangerous journey replete with super-predators and gifted humans."

Mark Gompertz, Skyhorse group editorial director, said the company is committed to giving the book “the kind of aggressive publishing schedule [it] deserves.” NEST will be Skyhorse’s lead fall title; the publisher has announced a first printing of 200,000 copies.

Goodkind was represented by Russell Galen at the Scovil Galen Ghosh Literary Agency. His books have sold over 26 million copies and been translated into more than 20 languages. Goodkind’s primary American publisher, Tor, will release his next book, Death's Mistress, in January.
