Trafalgar Square Publishing in Chicago, the distribution arm of IPG that represents U.K. and Australian presses, signed six houses from the other side of the pond and will start distributiing their titles January 1. Among them is the ten-year-old British subsidiary of Grove/Atlantic, Atlantic Books UK, which was named the 2009 Independent Publisher of the Year at the British Book Awards, and Peter Owen Publishers, which specializes in international works and has published seven Nobel Prize winners. “I am thrilled that Trafalgar Square will be distributing Atlantic Books in this, our tenth anniversary year. With the advent of Corvus, our energetic new category imprint, and our distribution arrangement with the celebrated Tindal Street Press we now have an increasingly strong list for the U.S. market,” said Daniel Scott, commercial director of Atlantic Books UK.

Other U.K. houses moving to Trafalgar Square at the start of the new year include: Beautiful Books, which publishes current events, pop culture, memoirs, and historical mysteries, as well as horror under its Bloody Books imprint; Bene Factum Publishing, which offers a mix of biographies, histories, and cookbooks, plus science writing, travel, and photography books; Elliott & Thompson, which is best known for its fiction, biography, history, music, and sports titles; and Pitch Publishing in Sussex, which focuses on golf, rugby, and cricket.
