A new bookstore's opening in Connecticut; a store will change hands in Indiana; and bookstores in New Orleans are celebrating IBD a week after the rest of the country.

Wesleyan to Move Bookstore Downtown: Wesleyan University president Michael Roth announced plans to move Broad Street Books to a 7,000 to 11,000 sq. ft. location on Main Street in Middleton, Ct. In 2012, the university briefly considered moving to another location at the edge of campus.

Independent Bookstore Day Coming to Nola Stores May 7: While other bookstores across the country are winding down after a successful Independent Bookstore Day, which was held on April 30, those in New Orleans are gearing up. They moved their celebration to avoid a conflict with Jazz Fest.

New Owners of Viewpoint Books: Former educators John Stroh (age 69) and Beth Stroh (age 59) will take over the Columbus, Ind., bookstore on July 1.

Pendleton’s Armchair Books Closed: After 34 years, owner Terry Dallas said goodbye to customers with champagne and cake on the store’s last day, April 30. Between Amazon and e-books, Dallas said that she had lost customers.
