Dave Baker and Nicole Goux’s new graphic novel Punk'n Heads showcases a cranky set of 20-something roommates with a horror-punk band and their messy search for love, self-identity, and reconciliation. Demoralized after her girlfriend dumps her, Hannah drops out of art school and ends up in Los Angeles as housemate and reluctant singer for Punk’n Heads, a pumpkin-headed costume punk band that includes Jerry, a boy-crush guitarist from high school. A comic rush of rebound sex, misunderstandings, and dating app hi-jinx ensue, all captured in the delightful drawings of Goux.
In this 6-page excerpt, we meet Hannah and Jerry in high school, then later in L.A. as the two bandmates rekindle their attraction only to become clashing romantic bedmates. Punk’n Heads, written Dave Baker and drawn by Nicole Goux, is out now from Top Shelf Productions.
