As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, Excalibur Books & Comics in Portland, Oregon is having an all-star signing on Wednesday, August 6 at 6pm. 8/7: The Wrenchies Release Party in Portland, OR

To mark the release of his new graphic novel, The Wrenchies (First Second) cartoonist Farel Dalrymple will be appearing at Floating World Comics in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, August 7 from 6–10pm. The Wrenchies is a nonlinear and heady science fiction story about band of youths eking out survival in a sprawling dystopian wasteland. An exhibit of Dalrymple's work from The Wrenchies and It Will Hurt #2 will also be on display. Admission is free. Floating World Comics is located at 400 NW Couch St., Portland, OR 97209.

8/8–8/10: Boston Comic Con in Boston, MA

Boston Comic Con is taking place from Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 10 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Porgramming includes panels and workshops such as "How to Pitch Your Comic," and "Self-Publishing in Independent Comics," creator Q&As, publisher spotlights, screenings, exhibitions, art auctions, gaming, cosplay, and more. Comics guests include Jeff Smith, Adam KubertMike Norton, Maris Wicks, Skottie Young, Neal Adams, Jimmy Palmiotti, Dan Parent, Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Stan Sakai, Jim Quinones, Nick Bradshaw, Simon Bisley, David Petersen, and Sergio Aragonés (full guests list here). 8/9: Jim Woodring in Seattle, WA

Acclaimed cartoonist Jim Woodring will be signing copies of JIM (Fantagraphics), a new anthology of his work, on Saturday, August 9 from 6–8pm at the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery in Seattle, Washington.
