Rachel Fershleiser has joined the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group as senior director of marketing for Knopf, Pantheon, and Schocken Books, effective immediately. In her new role, Fershleiser will direct the marketing team, and report to Chris Gillespie, senior v-p and associate publisher of Knopf, Pantheon, and Schocken.

Fershleiser comes to Knopf from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, where, as executive director of audience development and reader engagement, she worked to grow the consumer reach of their adult, young reader, and lifestyle publications. Prior to her work at HMH, Fershleiser worked in the publicity departments of Morrow and Scribner before launching the Housing Works Bookstore Café event series as director of public programming. Fershleiser also previously served as director of publisher outreach at Tumblr, and is the co-creator and editor of the Six-Word Memoir book series.

Fershleiser also serves on the boards and committees of a number of literary organizations, including the board of directors at Housing Works Bookstore Café, the junior board of the National Book Foundation, the Readers Committee for the NYPL Young Lions Fiction Award, the Wordstock Advisory Council, and Brooklyn Book Festival marketing committee.
