Shambhala Publications announced the promotion of K.J. Grow to publisher of its main imprint, Shambhala. Following stints at Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster, Grow joined Shambhala Publications as director in 2015 before being named v-p of sales and marketing last year. In her new role, Grow will be responsible for all publishing operations and growth for the Shambhala imprint, which publishes books on Buddhism, mindfulness, contemplative spiritual traditions, and more.

The imprint’s editorial, marketing, publicity, and design teams will report to Grow, who will also work closely with the publishers of Shambhala’s other imprints—Nikko Odiseos, publisher of Snow Lion; Sara Bercholz, co-owner of Shambhala Publications and publisher of Roost Books; and Ivan Bercholz, co-owner with his sister Sara and publisher of Bala Kids.

Odiseos, who is also president of Shambhala Publications, referred to Grow as “a natural leader” in a statement announcing her promotion. "Authors, agents, booksellers, librarians, and the media will quickly see her innovative and highly engaged approach,” he said.

Shambhala Publications, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is based in Boulder, Colo.
