For some time, many from both inside and outside of the book world have been beating a steady drum about the need to diversify the industry’s workforce and the titles it publishes. This year’s Star Watch, our annual tribute to rising talent in publishing, features a group of honorees and finalists who have been working hard to make that happen. Whether they are parsing data, creating campaigns that go viral, or acquiring titles that resonate across racial, social, and class boundaries, these young professionals are moving the industry forward and helping great books come into the world.
