Don D’Auria, former executive editor at Dorchester’s Leisure Books imprint and noted expert on the horror genre, has been hired by original e-book house Samhain Publishing to launch a line of horror titles. Samhain, an e-book publisher that also publishes traditional print titles, has also redesigned and relaunched the Samhain Web site.

Samhain publisher Christina Brashear said D’Auria was brought in to both launch a new genre at the house and attract horror authors and fans. Brashear said, “In Don D’Auria, we’ve found an icon in the horror industry with the discernment and perspective that will ensure our readers will have access to both the newest and most powerful voices in horror.” Samhain is soliciting manuscripts for the new line.

D’Auria was an editor at Dorchester for 15 years and left in August as part of a restructuring of the house. He has worked with such noted horror authors as Brian Keene, Richard laymon and Ramsey Campbell. He is the recipient of an International Horror Guild Awad. D'Auria has also worked for Harlequin, Bantam and Farrar, Straus Giroux.
