Writer’s Digest, the longtime publication and media company devoted to helping writers get published, is teaming up with self-publishing vendor Author Solutions to launch Abbott Press, a Writer’s Digest-branded self-publishing division that will be managed by Author Solutions.

The new imprint is named after Richard K. Abbott, the legendary Writer’s Digest editor. Editorial direction and educational services at Abbott Press will be overseen by Writer’s Digest, which is a division of F+W Media, and its various units including Writer’s Digest Books, Writer’s Digest University, The Writer’s Digest Conference, and Writer’s Market. Sales, production, marketing, and general book-selling services will be handled by Author Solutions.

F+W Media president Sara Domville said the new venture recognizes the new publishing opportunities available to aspiring writers today and their continuing need, “to get published be it by indie publishing or by traditional means.”

Author Solutions has formed similar agreements with several other publishers including Harlequin and Thomas Nelson.
