Leading psychiatrists from Harvard Medical School are teaming up with other national experts and Hazelden Publishing to release a new series of books in spring 2012 that define and describe "The Almost Effect"--a concept that reveals a paradigm shift in mental health that will help people who exhibit behavior that falls outside of normal but currently fails to meet the criteria for a particular diagnosis.

The series, which was developed by Julie Silver, MD, assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and chief editor of books at Harvard Health Publications, will launch with Almost Alcoholic in April 2012 followed by Almost a Psychopath in June 2012. Subsequent titles will be published one per season, with three books in 2012.

Sid Farrar, the executive editorial director at Hazelden Publishing, was the acquiring editor, and Linda Konner agented the deals.
