HCI Books has announced an extensive launch to accompany their release of Barb Schmidt’s The Practice on May 13. All proceeds from the book will go to Schmidt’s non-profit organization, Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life. Her site, of the same name, has recently grown to over a million fans, and the promotional tour includes a multiple city stop with appearances in cities like Miami, Nashville, Dallas, Boston, D.C., and N.Y., with TV, radio and print interviews in each city.

The Practice is a culmination of the spiritual insights Schmidt has gained over the past 30 years, and is meant to serve as a guide to help readers discover a deeper sense of confidence, happiness, and peace. HCI director of communications, Kim Weiss said of the book release, “We know Barb Schmidt to be a force in the South Florida market for many years with her Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life non-profit organization. What she’s been teaching here is perfectly represented and even better in The Practice, a handbook of tools for seekers to attain a calmer, more present existence.”

Schmidt, who connected with HCI and CEO Peter Vegso early on, said of teaming up with the publisher, “I knew of Peter and his wife Anne, because of our philanthropy work in the community so I set up a meeting and the rest is history as they say.”

The desire to make a difference was Schmidt's inspiration for penning The Practice, and she hopes it will go on to impact the lives of her readers. “My deepest desire is that all people in the world come to know that they are magnificent, kind, loving beings and what they need to do is everyday go within, connect with themselves, be with themselves on a daily basis, uncovering their true selves.”
