Simon & Schuster announced that its executive v-p for sales and marketing, Michael Selleck, will retire at the end of the year. With his departure, a number of changes are being made to the publisher's sales and distribution structure.

Gary Urda, who has been overseeing S&S’s wholesale operation, has been named senior v-p of sales, and will be responsible for the management of S&S’s entire sales division.

S&S has also promoted Colin Shields to v-p, executive director of global digital and international sales. Shields will have responsibility for worldwide sales of S&S books through digital channels, while also taking on management of digital audio sales and of S&S U.S. originated titles in the international market. He will report to Urda

In his new role, Urda will become a member of the S&S executive committee and report to S&S CEO Carolyn Reidy and Dennis Eulau, COO and CFO.

On the distribution side, Michael Perlman has been named v-p, general manager of Simon & Schuster Publisher Services, overseeing all aspects of the company’s client distribution business. He will report to Eulau.

In announcing Selleck’s upcoming retirement, Reidy observed that he has "played an important role in the life of this company” since he joined it in 1984. After holding a number of executive roles, he was named to his current position in 2007.
