Following its acquisition of the assets late last year of Sports Publishing, Skyhorse Publishing is resurrecting a Sports Publishing tradition—releasing instant books about the winning teams of major sporting events—albeit with a twist. Rather than team with news organizations to write a quick book about a championship team, Skyhorse will use Sports Publishing’s backlist to update relevant titles. To that end, to mark the Green Bay Packers victory in Sunday’s Super Bowl, Skyhorse, is re-issuing Tales from the Green Bay Packers Sideline by Chuck Carlson.

First released in 2003 and updated in 2006, the book will include a new chapter from Carlson about the Packers’ Sunday win. In addition, Skyhorse is adding a new cover, removing former Packer quarterback Brett Favre in favor of Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers. Skyhorse expects to ship the hardcover this Thursday and has announced a 25,000-copy first printing. Because Skyhorse is still converting much of Sport Publishing’s backlist, an e-book edition won’t be available for about three months.

Kevin Moran, director of marketing for Skyhorse, said the company will follow the same formula to produce updated titles on winners in such events as the World Series, the NBA and NHL playoffs, and the NCAA basketball and football playoffs. “Sports Publishing has a remarkable backlist and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate all the championship teams going forward," Moran said.
