Literary agent Steve Laube has acquired Christian science fiction publisher Marcher Lord Press. Laube, a former editor at Bethany House who now owns an eponymous shingle, finalized the sale on January 1.

Founder of Marcher Lord, Jeff Gerke, said he "could not have found a better person" than Laube to buy the company. Gerke started Marcher Lord in 2008, and the company has a backlist of about 40 titles. Laube plans to run the new Marcher Lord as a separate company from his agency. Gerke intends to focus on freelance editing and publishing services, while he also works on his own writing.

Laube will oversee acquisitions and he said he intends to have Marcher Lord release between four and eight titles in 2014.
