Lysa TerKeurst, president of the women’s ministry Proverbs 31 and the bestselling author of Uninvited, broke into the top five on PW’s Religion Nonfiction Bestsellers list with her latest release, Embraced: 100 Devotions to Know God is Holding You Close. Featuring a cloth cover, a ribbon marker, and stained page edges, the devotional is geared toward “women at every stage of life’s journey,” according to the publisher. Embraced was offered at a 50% discount at Barnes & Noble ahead of Mother’s Day, and steep discounts were also available on the Proverbs 31 website as well as on Christianbook.com.

In addition to Embraced, Mother’s Day shopping also helped put Sarah Young’s popular devotionals, Jesus Calling and Jesus Always, at #3 and #6 on the list, respectively, while a fourth devotional, 100 Days to Brave by Annie F. Downs, came in at #7.

Next, making its debut on the Religion Nonfiction Bestsellers list, Unexpected by Christine Caine took #8. Marketing and publicity for the follow-up to 2016’s Unashamed included promotions at the Outcry 2018 concert series, which were attended by over 150,000 people in May, and a paid media campaign that included coverage in Relevant magazine, Christianity Today, and more. Caine made appearances on Christian media outlets such as Daystar and TBN, and also participated in podcast interviews as well as Facebook Live events. Further, Unexpected was the book club pick for Propel, the women’s ministry launched by Caine and her husband.

Richard Paul Evans (The Christmas Box) claimed the #1 spot on our Religion Fiction Bestsellers with The Forgotten Road, the second installment to his new Broken Road series. The author promoted the title across his website and social media platforms, as well as on that of Simon & Schuster’s. The first book in the series, The Broken Road, was also on the list at #6.
