Jane Love, well known in the industry as a religion buyer for Barnes & Noble from 2007-2018, died at age 63 on September 2 in Amarillo, Tex. She suffered blunt force trauma to the head, and a police investigation is currently underway, according to sources close to her.

Julie Jayne, a friend and colleague of Love’s who worked with her to reshape the religion category, tells PW: “Jane brought a very different mentality to her collection and quickly turned it into a high-performing category for the stores. She truly had a heart for her category and her customers.”

In a letter to colleagues announcing her departure from B&N last year, Love referred to her career as “a valuable part of my life so far,” and acknowledged the partnerships she’d forged.

A memorial for Love is planned for November 14 in Nashville, Tenn. For more information, visit the GoFundMe page supporting Love's brother, Dan Burke, and her niece, Danielle Tyler, who are handling her estate.
