Thomas Nelson is teaming up with bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst on a new author training and publishing program, COMPEL. TerKeurst will work with literary agent and manager Meredith Brock to identify and develop "the next generation of women Christian authors," according to a release. TerKeurst and Brock will then select manuscripts to be presented to Thomas Nelson as part of a co-review process. Manuscripts deemed commercially viable will be contracted and managed through Nelson Books, and each book will be co-branded Nelson Books and COMPEL. The team is aiming to release the first title in 2022.

“This exclusive project will be the first of its kind for Nelson Books,” said Timothy Paulson, v-p and publisher of Nelson Books. He called TerKeurst "a visionary leader" who intends "to help her community of women who have such incredible and inspiring messages that deserve to be read."

The new initiative will kick off with The Book Proposal Boot Camp, a 10-week training course for writers with a $2,500 tuition. The course starts October 18 and runs through January.
